From the Principal's Corner 2-14-19

Parents, we need your help.  At the end of the day, please walk across the street to get your child instead of waving them to cross alone.  Last week there was a near miss when a child, beckoned by a parent, ran out in front of an oncoming car. Safety is always are biggest concern.  Also, please do not park in the bus lane. Thank you.

Our new security doors are up and running.  It may take us all a little while to get used to the process, but we love the extra safety they provide.  The doors are open from 7:55am-9:00am and then again from 3:05pm-3:45pm. All other times, you will have to press the button to the right of the front doors to enter the school.  You can speak to the office staff through the phone system and they will let you in. You will know the door is unlocked when you hear the very pleasant British voice say, “the door is open, please come in.”  We are working to train students not to open the door when they see someone standing waiting. The purpose is for the office staff to control who enters our school, so we do not want students allowing access. The school staff has decided we now have our own British butler. Come by and meet him sometime!

Kindness week is coming up February 25th through March 1st.  We will send updates to ensure you are aware of all the kindness events planned by our student council.

Grace Ewing was the winner of the 6th grade spelling bee.  She also won the school wide spelling bee and will now represent Roosevelt at the district bee.  Congratulations and good luck Grace!

The boys basketball team won their first round of the tournament, and will play next Tuesday  6:15pm @ Trailwind.
