It has been a fabulous year at Roosevelt.  Your children have impressed and inspired us! They are kind, they have grit and determination, they learn from mistakes, and they know how to have fun!  I am confident that we are in good hands as they grow up and become leaders in our community.  Thank you for sharing them with us.
We will see you again on August 16th at 1:00 for our sneak peek.  At that time, class lists will be posted and students will be able to meet their teachers.

See you then!

Have a wonderful summer!

Thank you to Teresa Hansen and Gratia Barton for making Spring Fling a success this year.
We are so lucky to have such a wonderful community of support.
May 6-10 is teacher appreciation week. We want to thank all of our amazing
Roosevelt staff for everything they do to make Roosevelt special.
You may have noticed the new "no parking" signs on the Maple Street side of our building.
No parking is only in effect from 8-9AM and 3-4PM during our pick up and drop off times.

Feel free to park on Maple St between 9 and 3.

As we head into May and the final stretch we want to thank you, our parents, for your tremendous support this year.  Roosevelt is a unique school because of you and the extra support you provide.

It is rare to find such a special place anymore.  We want this to continue for all the Raiders who will pass through our doors.  I can't wait to see you all at Spring Fling.

Your generous support is deeply appreciated.

Monday the 22nd is Earth Day and the Boise School District will be participating in Black Out Day.
On Monday we will be going low tech and low energy.  We are going to attempt to work with most of our lights off (with readable safety considerations).  Students will be eating lunch outside, participating in a campus clean-up, and working a little in our outdoor classroom.
Teachers are going to plan low tech lessons.  We are hoping to bring awareness to the importance of taking care of our earth.
In an effort to relieve some pick-up/drop off congestion, ACHD will be installing more no parking signs to the east of our school on Maple St.  After observation by our district transportation supervisor and ACHD, they determined that this was a necessary safety measure.  No parking zones only need to be observed before and after school during peak traffic times. The signs will be installed within the next few weeks.

Our amazing art teacher, Anne Orzepowski, is retiring at the end of the year.  We appreciate all she has done for our Roosevelt students. She will be missed!

Therefore, we are looking for a new art teacher for the 19-20 school year.  We need someone with an art background who also has experience working with children.  More information about the position will be provided upon request. Interested candidates, please contact Mrs Severson at rebecca.severson@boiseschools.org

Please feel free to pass this on to anyone who might be interested.

ISAT's begin next week.  You should receive information from your child's teacher about the testing schedule.  Please make sure your child is present, has a good night sleep, and a healthy breakfast before each test.
Roosevelt has been partnering with Whitney Elementary this year in a pen pal exchange as part of our community outreach program.  Some classes are even getting together with Whitney students on field trips.  This has been a great opportunity for students to learn more about our Boise community.  On May 17th, Whitney is holding its annual Cultural Fair.  They have invited Roosevelt families to join them.  Our choir will be singing with the Whitney choir.

You will be receiving more information about this event in the future.
